The wake up, be healthier call often starts with a diagnosis, especially for culinary professionals who need to change their eating (and other habits). For 19-year-old certified nutrition coach and wellness activist Thomas, that "eureka" moment occurred with her father's Type 2 diabetes diagnosis. In the first half of the book, she delves into her seven points of power: wellness, relationships, social media and societal influences, education, world perspective, learning, and creativity and community. There are a number of self-examination exercises, with how-tos and action plans to develop and follow. Plant-based foodstuffs are the backbone of her 80 recipes, including comfort foods in new guises and variations, like chickpea flour pancakes, overnight oats, cauliflower steaks, and spicy Southwestern falafel.
