Coauthors Wells and Jones (Savoring the Seasons) here focus on recipes that are both delicious and low in calories. Since the authors, who write the blog, Our Best Bites (ourbestbites.com), adhere to no particular dietary strictures, their book offers something for everyone, including meatless, gluten-free, and low-carb dishes. Calling for fresh ingredients, most of which can easily be purchased at an average grocery store, the authors feature such items as Thai chicken salad, oven-baked cinnamon apple chips, and smoky citrus pork tacos with apple-cabbage slaw. Written for busy cooks with hungry families to feed and inspired by the authors' own experiences with weight loss, the recipes contain accompanying notes, helpful tips, and nutritional information, supplying fat and carbohydrate content and sugar and salt intake.
