This introduction to grilling covers types of grills, safety, and grilling indoors. Tex-Mex Burgers (featuring lean ground beef, salsa, and chili powder) is a simple recipe for those in a spicy mood, and photos for making patties are included. While cooks will find plenty of traditional grilling fare, such as steaks, ribs, and burgers, there are also recipes for sandwiches like Tomato, Portobello, and Mozzarella Melts and salads (e.g., Thai Beef Salad). Rick Browne's Grilling for All Seasons and Steven Raichlen's How To Grill are also excellent grilling books for beginners.

Backyard chefs can't get enough of their favorite barbecued foods during summer's long evenings. This compilation of grilling recipes appeals to the beginning grill master who wants to wow friends and relatives with simple and straightforward dishes that will delight just about any crowd of any age. Hamburgers include not just unadorned patties of ground beef but ones stuffed with blue cheese or mixed with Mexican salsa. Beyond traditional American dishes, selections from around the world appear, including lots of Thai and Korean specialties that fit perfectly into a grilling repertoire.
