Star BBC pastry chef and cookbook author Pascale presents 125 recipes for cakes, cookies, pastries, and breads in this beautifully photographed cookbook. Some are classic recipes that she has amped up or given her own spin to. As with her other books, Pascale has included many options for gluten-free and vegan recipes for those with specific dietary needs. Some of the most important features here include instructions on how to make a basic pastry dough and various icings, including meringue and buttercream. At the beginning, she lists equipment and recommended ingredients. Pascale advises readers to adhere to her recipes without changing anything. There is a chapter for special occasions, and Pascale includes a recipe for making fortune cookies that might be a fun family-baking idea. Presentation is important to the final result with many of her recipes, so new and inexperienced bakers will want to start with some of the simpler recipes, such as Pascale's Chocolate Chip Brownies.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2017, American Library Association.)
