Macomber's latest cookbook is as warm and welcoming as her dozens of novels. In addition to being a witty, best-selling, faith- and family-oriented author, Macomber loves to cook, and these 100 recipes prove it. Prefacing recipes with family stories and her characters' preferences (for example, baked oatmeal would be served at the Inn at Rose Harbor), Macomber sets forth her favorites, which include familiars as well as riffs on classics and new-to-home-chefs inventions. Photographs of family and prepared dishes inspire, though not as much as the recipes themselves: carrot-ginger soup and curried-chicken salad, lemon-ricotta pancakes and cannoli icebox cake. A number feature ingredients particular to Washington State, like marionberries, along with suggested substitutes. And, to help plan for special occasions, there are 14 menu selections and 9 special recipe lists. This is a culinary collection for all tastes?for those who live to eat or even vice versa.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2018, American Library Association.)
