The Farmer's Wife magazine, published in Minnesota from 1893 to 1939, supplied rural women with advice for daily farm life, including new recipes and cooking techniques. Editors at Quayside Publishing Group, Keefe and Cornell here collect favorite recipes from the magazine along with illustrations, images from the covers, and advertisements. The recipes--such as Milk Hoecake, Meatballs, Chili, Bread Pudding, and Oatmeal Cookies--are terse and written for the experienced cook. This is a well-timed cookbook sure to appeal to cooks trying to work with a modest budget. It will evoke nostalgia for those in the Minnesota area.
