For party hosts who prefer to socialize with guests rather than mix drinks all night, this book provides an index of drinks suitable for large batches (punches, pitcher drinks, tiki & tropical drinks, cool & classic drinks) and conveniently offers lessons in balancing flavors, measuring techniques, and presentation ideas. Several pages dedicated to homemade garnishes, sweetening syrups, and specialty ice help elevate recipes to the next level. VERDICT While a few of the plan-ahead tricks might be common sense to some readers, the majority of advice in this user-friendly book will be extremely helpful to the novice bartender.--Laura Snavely, Library Journal
