Best-selling authors the Eadeses ("The 30-Day Low-Carb Diet Solution") espouse a low-carb diet that was popular ten years ago. They have polished it up somewhat with the goal of helping readers to eliminate the visceral fat that tends to collect as our bodies age. The program concentrates on "good" fats, particularly olive oil, as it is less subject to processing than canola oil. Unusually, they do not prescribe a heavy regimen of abdominal exercises, referring the reader to another book, which they coauthored with Fredrick Hahn, "The Slow Burn Fitness Revolution". Their concentration here is on changing the diet to reduce carbs and increase protein. VERDICT The Eadeses are courting the boomer readership, and their low-carb plan, in conjunction with a wide PR sweep, will lead to demand; however, this system is not based on sound nutritional principles and not a recommended approach to weight loss.Susan B.
