If you need more space, a shed might be for you. Gleason (Building Projects for Backyard Farmers and Home Gardeners) takes a fairly casual approach to shed building. Using examples of completed projects, these approachable case studies display the flexibility of sheds. The examples of constructions are loosely organized and include workspace sheds, guest quarters, storage, gardening, and businesses. Comfort with construction and tool use is assumed, so this is not the source for building basics. Still, there is real practicality to these sheds, built to solve space issues and meet specific needs. VERDICT For ground-to-roof instructions, other sources such as Black & Decker: The Complete Guide to Sheds (Creative Publishing, 2011) have much more detailed how-tos. Still, this pairs nicely with such sources and is a good companion book to Dan Eckstein's Popular Mechanics: Shed Nation (Hearst, 2010). Recommended for readers with some building experience.
