Quilled Mandalas

Quilling combines paper craft with precision, taking thin strips of paper and curling them into delicate shapes. Bartkowski (Quilled Flowers) draws inspiration from the symmetry and design of mandalas in this collection of colorful projects. Each design is assigned a difficulty level, and Bartkowski features a quick overview of the shapes used to create the design (a guide to basic quilled shapes is included, as is an outline of tools and techniques). Several of the projects are beginner friendly, providing a good way for novices to practice making the foundational shapes used in quilling projects. VERDICT The cover, which features four of Bartkowski's more intricate mandalas, will draw crafters in--and they'll be pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to get started with quilling.
