Narrator Craig Lauzon handles this deeply personal and emotional story with the respect and attention it deserves. In an extended letter to his estranged son, Joshua, the author shares the knowledge he has gained through the highs and lows of his life. Wagamese doesn't hold back in recounting the pain he's experienced--he was separated from his people at a young age and has struggled with alcoholism. An Ojibway man, he also describes the ritual that allowed him to confront these memories and begin to heal.
