Ethan Allen and the Green Mountain Boys are part of American Revolutionary War legend. Author Christopher Wren separates fact from fiction, showing how little Allen actually figured in the Vermonters' success and how significantly the Green Mountain Boys contributed to the American victory. Peter Berkrot offers a solid narration, keeping listeners engaged even during the few passages of tedious detail. He is especially effective with quoted material, pausing before the actual quote begins. On longer passages, he alters his tone slightly to give listeners additional cues. Wren's journalistic writing style adapts well to audio, as well. The audiobook shines a light on a major front in the War for Independence that too often has been neglected.
