Readers interested in sports but not yet ready for more challenging content will find the language accessible. The subjects are ethnically and racially diverse; however, the series focuses exclusively on male athletes, which may limit its broader appeal. Glossy full-page photographs and diagrams of relevant concepts make this an ideal introductory sports biography series for the early grades. VERDICT An up-to-date addition to large nonfiction collections.
