Revenge of the Whale

This true story captures the essence of human survival against all odds. Taylor Mali presents the story of the whaleship ESSEX, which was sunk in the Pacific in 1820 when an enraged sperm whale they were hunting attacked back with a vengeance. The ship's crew, including 14-year-old Thomas Nickerson, found themselves adrift in three lifeboats in the middle of the ocean. Mali brings this group of hapless Nantucket sailors back to life. Sea chanteys performed by Richard Burbank with accompanying music lend an authentic sound to the setting and presentation.
