Reilly, an avowed, second-generation Beatlemaniac, pays tribute to her idols. Through 101 very brief chapters, she chronicles the rise to fame, the heyday, the major songs, the breakup, and solo efforts of the Fab Four. The author intersperses vignettes about venues (e.g., the Cavern Club) and tours central to the group and some of the people in the Beatles orbit (manager Brian Epstein, publicist Derek Taylor, producer George Martin, assistant Mal Evans, and the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, among others). She ends with the legacy of the Beatles in the digital age. VERDICT Though not writing for aficionados who undoubtedly have pored over the hundreds of detailed books and firsthand accounts about the Beatles, Reilly offers a breezy, heavily illustrated romp through Beatles history for listeners who might not know much about the iconic group. --David P.
