It's a stylish telling of two stories: Michael Buble's story from aspiring singer to international star and that of his manager, Delich, a self-made, ingenious woman who recognized talent in the boy from Vancouver. Big names such as David Foster and Paul Anka also add life to this unique, fast moving memoir. The story starts in Montana and ends in Los Angeles, taking the reader on the journey in between. Delich shows Buble's personality as a kind and youthful spirit from their first meeting, through their struggle to create his career, and in more recent years, when Buble finally reached stardom. Delich is candid about her joy and her later disappointment with the eventual fading of her role. His family is included here, too, especially Buble's mother, Amber, who became a confidante for Delich during the difficult years. The memoir is refreshing and honest, delivering an interesting story about her managerial relationship with the Canadian icon. At times, Delich seems to use the Buble story as a vehicle for her own, one that includes two marriages, cancer and other heartaches; a more balanced telling of the intertwined tales of their lives, careers and friendship would serve the book better.
