Like a good magazine, this book is both fun and informative. Dip into it anywhere, and your attention will be caught. The book is based on the "Practical Problem Solver" feature in Britain's Artist magazine, which was first published in the U.K. in 1931 and is now one of the most respected art magazines for amateur painters. Here, 12 top artists creatively answer a broad spectrum of questions, from the practical "How can I choose and mix the right blues when painting skies and seascapes?" to more complex issues like "Why do I have problems working up a satisfactory finished picture from an exciting sketchbook study?" A wide variety of subjects is included, ranging from people, flowers, and fabrics to landscapes, interiors, and still lifes. Having 12 featured artists assures a rich source of ideas, styles, and inspiration. Highly recommended.
