Jardim's popular podcast (The Period Party) and website focuses on empowering women on their hormone and period wellness journey during their reproductive years. This book, which details her six-week program "Fix Your Period," is the result of her personal experiences unsuccessfully navigating traditional medicine, and finding relief when introduced to holistic treatments. Subsequent years of training within different health disciplines, including nutrition, has informed her current work. The first part of the book goes into great detail about women's bodies, including facts about menstrual cycles, periods, and hormones. The second part is divided into the program's weekly sections, while the last chapters plot the time after the end of the six weeks. Additional sections include an extensive bibliography, example recipes, websites, and lists of recommended supplements. VERDICT Jardim's personal experience, and the resulting passion, has resulted in this well-researched and easy-to-read book. Her program is the foundation, but all the information in the first part has value for women interested in learning more about how her body functions, which makes it a good addition to a public or consumer health-focused collection.--Elizabeth J.
