Grades 3-5 Each book in the Community Connections: How Do They Help? series profiles one or two young people who wanted to help others, describes how their efforts evolved, and looks at the ongoing work of their charitable organizations. Each double-page spread includes paragraphs of large-print text and a colorful photo, while sidebars carry additional details, comments, and questions. The clarity and matter-of-fact tone of the writing add to the appeal of the kids' stories. Thirteen-year-old Kyle and 15-year-old Garrett Weiss began raising money in 2006 to build a soccer field in war-torn Angola. FUNDaFIELD follows their charity's activities, which now include giving away soccer gear and holding tournaments.
