Dark Genius of Wall Street

When a Wall Street scandal is announced today, the parties responsible generally pay the price for deceiving the public and ignoring regulations. But in the late nineteenth century, the wealthiest men of the time controlled the nation's financial activity without oversight. Then along came Jay Gould, an ambitious, self-made financier, who gave the moguls a run for their money, cornered the railroad and gold markets, and became front and center in the Black Friday disaster of 1869. Reflecting the style of newsreel narrators, George Wilson is a perfect narrator for a story set in this period.
