AudioFile Magazine
Deb Shapiro's English accent and soothing calmness make listeners feel like they're experiencing a personal workshop with her. She teaches listeners to dialogue with their bodies and examines various anatomical systems, as well as discusses the psychological symbolism behind illness and injury. Shapiro does such a detailed job that this book can serve as a lifelong reference when one is facing illness. However, this type of information is more accessible in print, especially when it includes an index. Nonetheless, Shapiro's voice exudes understanding and mitigates the self-blame that can come with examining the mind/body connection to illness. The audiobook includes relaxing guided meditations to promote healing. J.T. (c) AudioFile 2007, Portland, Maine
