Paul and Me

A television play by Hotchner led to his friendship with actor and race-car driver Paul Newman. The two eventually worked together to develop the Newman's Own food line and the Hole in the Wall children's camps funded by the proceeds. Hotchner reads his account of their friendship with a clear, gravelly voice. One can hear particular relish in his stories of the Newman's Own project, when he worked alongside his friend, and self-effacement as he recalls his own mundane driving skills as compared to Newman's. He recounts various aspects of the actor's life--from his preparation for roles to his relationship with his son, Scott, who died in 1978--always keeping the focus on his friend.
