Cards That Wow With Sizzix

Sizzix die-cutting machines are popular among paper crafters who want to add dimension and embellishment to their cards and scrapbook pages. These machines allow crafters to cut shapes from cardstock or patterned paper using a variety of dies, many of them specifically designed for cardmaking. Paper crafter Stephanie Barnard partnered with Sizzix for this gallery of cards demonstrating an array of embellishments made on Sizzix machines. Though there are some basic pictorial demonstrations of how to use the dies and embossing folders with the Sizzix, this isn't a book that explains how to use the machine--it's mostly a gallery of card designs with basic information about which dies were used to make the card and an occasional cardmaking tip. Barnard's ideas and creations show the range and versatility of Sizzix machines; however, replicating her work would be difficult without some knowledge of paper crafting. VERDICT The cards are attractive, but there's not much how-to in this book--it's a lot of pretty pictures. Paper crafters looking for enlightenment may be enticed, yet the lack of directions could be frustrating.
