Amber Tamblyn authentically delivers her memoir, but that doesn't mean it's enjoyable. She explores questions of female identity and place amid the social hierarchy in the age of #MeToo and also discusses how these questions have impacted her own sense of self, her relationship with her husband, and her growing daughter. Her delivery is often languid, and even when she's communicating excitement, she still sounds as if she's holding back. Too often, the rhythm she gives her words comes off as deliberately emotive but not necessarily emotional. Despite these issues, she does maintain a consistent narration, and listeners will find her thoughts engaging and hopeful for the future of women. Poet Alrea D. Matthews and writer Meredith Talusan each contribute one essay. L.E. AudioFile 2019, Portland, Maine
