This audiobook is a fascinating memoir. A spark ignited by the reading of an ancestor's 1868 diary started Carole Ione's eighteen-year quest to uncover her maternal roots. This audiobook was written and narrated by a psychotherapist, not a noted author or actor. Even under the auspices of a director, Ione's voice is halting and at times dull. But such flaws cannot negate this work's value. Most memoirs reveal the lives of extraordinary individuals or exemplary families.
