Many sewing books contain home decor projects but few delve into the topic the way sewist and first-time author Schlosser, whose background is in interior design, does. Introducing home sewists to basic interior design principles, she provides advice for choosing and using home decor fabrics, and presents a series of projects ranging from simple curtains and linens to professional-quality window treatments and decorative accessories. Each project includes step-by-step instructions, as well as measuring and cutting guides, a supply list, and a summary of techniques used. Incorporated throughout are design tips and suggestions for further customization. VERDICT Schlosser's expertise, combined with the uncommon focus on professional-quality home decor projects, make this an excellent addition to sewing collections.
