This slim title is a must read. Chmara, a First Amendment attorney and litigation expert, clarifies privacy and confidentiality issues such as requests or subpoenas for patron-use records (both book and Internet), hostile-work-environment issues, state and federal privacy and confidentiality statutes, and minors First Amendment rights and rights to privacy. Each of the seven chapters is arranged in a question-and-answer format that leads the reader through the nuances of the issue being explained. Chapter 7 focuses on developing a privacy policy preferably before a library needs one. The appendixdescribes privacy and confidentiality statutes by state.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2009, American Library Association.)
