Hunger is a seemingly simple mechanism to let bodies know when to refuel--it's a gas gauge. But as freelance writer Suszynski and dietitian Petrello describe it, it's more than that. People can eat a healthy, balanced meal and in an hour and a half feel hungry again. But do they really? This book examines hunger and why some foods digest more slowly, so that that gnawing feeling is kept at bay. VERDICT They provide lots of calorie charts and some good recipes, as well as the usual advice on eating mindfully and using high-fiber foods to tame hunger.
