Jobless, childless (not counting her dog), and with her marriage rocky, Sam digs out seven letters sent to her 20 years earlier, love letters from Paris, from a rocket scientistletters she had never answered. Encouraged by her friends, she starts a blog, using parts of the letters, and easily Googles Jean-Luc V'rant, the man whose heart she had stolen in just one day so long ago. Finding him in the middle of a divorce, with two children (and after many loving e-mails pass between the two), Sam divorces her husband, moves in with her parents, and prepares to return to Paris and Jean-Luc. This chipper, funny memoir illustrates that the pastfor example, Sam's disinterested birth fatherneed not stand in the way of the future. Can she learn to love, for perhaps the first time? Jean-Luc's seven original letters are quoted throughout, and they are, indeed, sparkling. That she found him and that they snagged each other (and are married now) should give hope to all those still searching and glee to those who just plumb love a love story. A passionate, romantic, spring-in-the-step read.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2014, American Library Association.)
