The latest installment of Storey's budget-conscious "Basics" series focuses on wirework techniques for jewelry making. The majority of the content by coauthors Eddy, Rachael Evans, and Kate Feld focuses on the accoutrements of wirework, with coverage of wire types and sizes, premade findings and chains, and basic wireworking tools. An overview of basic wirework techniques follows, with instructions for creating a variety of simple findings and wire wraps. As with other titles in the series, line drawings are utilized to illustrate important concepts. The coverage is surprisingly in depth given the brief format, and jewelry makers looking for a "just the facts" approach to choosing the appropriate wire for their project will find it here. VERDICT Wirework is a useful technique for jewelry makers, and though the bare-bones method won't work for everyone, this guide provides enough information to get beginners started.
