Snakehead

langston_p - This was again another action packed book and I would strongly recommend it to people who like action movies or just need a good book to read. This was another book about Scorpia, so Alex once again learns about his past life. He and his godfather Ash get disguised to get smuggled as refugees by the Snakehead and try to find out what Scorpia is planning. I liked how the main antagonist, Major Winston Yu was so genius and planned out his scary plan and how it was perfect timing. I also thought that Anthony Horowitz developed the characters very well, for example Cloudy, she was only in a few pages but it was so easy to find out a lot about her character. This was once more a classic novel made by Anthony Horowitz and like always, the criminal mastermind plan was completely different from all of the others.

Gr 7 Up -"Snakehead" begins right where "Ark Angel" (Philomel, 2006) ended. After splashing down in Australian waters, Alex Rider is taken to Sydney and immediately recruited by ASIS, the Australian Secret Intelligence Service. They need him to pose as an Afghan immigrant boy to provide cover for an agent who is working to uncover information about a human smuggling operation. Alex reluctantly accepts, only because the agent is his godfather and the last person to have seen his parents alive. From the moment the teen arrives in Bangkok, virtually everything about the operation goes wrong. Narrowly escaping death, he ends up in a wooden box being smuggled to Australia and in the middle of something even more horrifying than the smuggling. The seventh Alex Rider book picks up where Ark Angel (2006) left off, as Alex is pulled from a spaceship off the coast of Australia. He soon goes to work for the Australian Secret Intelligence Service (which offers him a mission working with his long-lost godfather, Ash), and is eventally brought face to face with the head of the terrorist Snakehead orgnization. The convoluted plot, nearly constant action, and clever gadgets will intrigue readers as Alex crosses the world, and Ash reveals new information about Alexs parents and their untimely demise.
