Nelson taps his experience as a high school teacher to present gritty and offbeat projects--primarily musical instruments and electronics as well as games and toys--that will resonate with young adults. The organization is poor, and the lack of an index doesn't help. Technique tips appear after project steps, and instruction for specialized tool use is buried at the end of the book. However, with detailed text instructions and helpful black-and-white photos (though they suffer from insufficient labeling), this project book is well targeted for teens who want to make something out of the ordinary and aren't afraid to solder.
