Andrew McCarthy's story of how his love of travel unfolded through his family roots in the Irish county of Cork starts off this collection of travel essays. Each writer goes into family history in some way. The journeys go mostly in alphabetical order from Angola to the United States, with a primer on genealogy wrapping up the audiobook. One standout tells how author Pico Iyer went to India as a teenager without learning much of anything--or so he once thought. The essays are read by a large cast of professional narrators; however, listeners may not realize this at first, thanks to the readers' skilled expression of the authors' sentiments.
