In Shakespeare expert and gardening enthusiast Quealy's slim volume, charmingly illustrated by Hasegawa-Collins, readers will find more than 170 different flowers, herbs, fruits, and more that appear in Shakespeare's oeuvre. Each plant's one-page entry (a few get two) features a lovely full-color drawing and the line(s) where it appears, fully cited. The appendix, Botanicals Defined, offers a brief dictionary description of each named plant, including botanical and common names, an interesting trivia tidbit or two, and other literary mentions, as appropriate. Nature buffs and general readers as well as students will enjoy this interesting book, which is suitable for both browsing and quick reference.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2017, American Library Association.)
