Famed dog behavior expert Millan goes from teacher to student in this touching and informative tribute to the dogs he's loved and learned from. First there was his grandfather's farm dog, Paloma, who taught Cesar how packs function and what it means to be a leader. Millan's first dog of his own was Regalito, who helped him adjust to city life and venture beyond his family's small, cramped apartment. When Cesar left Mexico to go to California with the hope of becoming a dog trainer, it was his ability to connect with Daisy, a fussy cocker spaniel, and calm her that impressed the dog groomers who ended up hiring him for his first real job working with animals. Most prominent of course is Daddy, the pit bull who costarred in Millan's National Geographic show, Dog Whisperer, and to whom the book is dedicated and whose calm, peaceful nature endeared him to Millan and millions of viewers. Bound to appeal to Millan's many fans and any animal lover who understands how much our four-legged friends have to teach us.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2017, American Library Association.)
