"Bigger than golf!" crows Cassell (editorial director, Skyhorse publishing) about the $48 billion angling industry, which serves an estimated 40 million fishing enthusiasts in the United States. This reference seeks to be the piscine counterpart to Skyhorse's Shooter's Bible, first released in 1925. Largely a gear guide, with information on rods, reels, lures, and lines, this new work also includes a charming excerpt from Steve Price's The Fish That Changed America, covering the history of bass fishing. A directory of manufacturers and suppliers is also provided. This specialty directory showcases the thousands of rods, reels, lines, and lures that are currently available on the market. The narrative portions cover trends in fishing, a beginner's guide to fishing, and tips on what and where to fish. The selection of gear begins with nearly 100 pages of new items, which will be updated in future revisions. Items are divided into freshwater and saltwater and further separated by spin, spincasting, baitcasting, and fly-fishing. Entries consist of a black-and-white photo of the item (full color in the new-product section), specs, a description, and the current suggested retail price. A directory of manufacturers and suppliers rounds out the book.
