Parker Saint, pastor of a megachurch in Grand Rapids, MI, loses his temper with an airline employee over a canceled flight and finds himself embroiled in a lawsuit. In order to avoid a scandal that may cost him his status as a TV celebrity and to have the lawsuit dropped, Saint agrees to help the police with their hunt for a serial killer who paints religious symbols on his victims in their own blood. Additionally, he is dragged into a mission by a group of Jesuit militants to find a missing relic. As he learns more about the demon-possessed killer, Saint and his friends find their own lives in danger. VERDICT Michigan minister Bartels (42 Months Dry) holds readers' interest in this intrigue-filled thriller, despite its far-fetched premise. Saint's character is particularly well developed as he changes from a self-absorbed TV personality into a true man of faith. This book will be enjoyed by those who love a mystery combined with supernatural elements and is especially recommended for regional collections.--Margaret Bentley, Shiawassee Dist. Lib., Owosso, MI
