Chase’s devastating fourth Montgomery Brothers contemporary (after Stay with Me) reunites long-separated lovers. James Montgomery never wanted to use his rich family’s name to skate by, so he struck out on his own. Soon he met and fell in love with Selena Ainsley, a schoolmate of his cousin. All was well until tragedy ripped James and Selena apart. Ten years later, both are single and miserable. Family matchmaker William Montgomery, James’s uncle, decides to get the pair back together—whether they like it or not. But can the catastrophic damage ever be fully repaired? Chase writes achingly of how deeply betrayal—or seeming betrayal—can cut, and whether it’s possible to ever return to what might have been. Her well-drawn characters will make readers cheer for a happy ending, no matter how impossible that might seem at first. Agent: Mark Gottlieb, Trident Media Group.

The latest book in Chase's Montgomery Brothers series (Wait for Me, 2013) opens with matchmaker William Montgomery moving on from finding his sons' brides to rekindling the spark for his nephew, James. Ten years ago, an accident tore James Montgomery and Selena Ainsley apart. Selena left town and never looked back. James gave up his passion for landscaping and became a police officer. When her best friend begs her to return to plan their 10-year class reunion, Selena decides it's finally time to face her demons and return for a visit. She sure didn't count on running into James. The attraction between them is still there, but there is a lot of hurt and misunderstanding on both sides. Can time heal their wounded hearts? Difficult family relationships, a stalker, and interesting characters make for an enjoyable read. The tale begins in Long Island, then Chase brings it back to small-town North Carolina and brings readers up to date on the lives of other characters in the series. Readers who enjoy Jill Shalvis' Lucky Harbor series will like this one, too.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2015, American Library Association.)
