The Valkyries

In a spiritual quest for his guardian angel, Paolo Coelho and his wife, Chris, set out into Arizona's Mojave Desert for 40 days and nights. Narrator Sean Runnette does a creditable job recounting Coelho's yearning for magic, his meeting with his personal mentor, and his decision to make this difficult journey in order to find the answers he needed. Coelho's storytelling ability is well served by Runette, who keeps things on an even keel as the couple's pilgrimage across the desert unfolds. From the mysterious Gene, who tells them that angels are "God's thoughts in live form," to their eventual meeting with the Valkyries, a group of women motorcyclists with mystical powers, Coelho's vision will appeal to those who believe angels are everywhere, watching over us.
