Kat Lind, an American living in London, is feeling vulnerable. Her mother has just died; her husband is out of the country on a business trip; her son is visiting his grandparents in the states. On impulse, she attends an art exhibit by Daniel Blake, a painter whom she met and loved 20 years before while studying in Paris, an affair that ended badly. To her surprise, the show is filled with paintings of a young Kat, including one titled Blue Bath. Although Kat is happily married, the paintings bring back painful yet wonderful memories, and she is drawn back to the artist.
