Good, evil and loss of innocence are the themes of this beautifully written story. Henry is a sweet, kind boy who cruelly learns that there's evil in the world and almost everything has its price. Narrator Guidall enhances Cormier's lyrically written story with a wonderful presentation. He portrays the young boy as well as the older people so well that the listener knows exactly who is speaking without being told.
