Joey Runs Away

Adult or child, no one is immune to the frolics created by Kent, the versatile humorist whose beloved characters include Joey. This is a sequel to the upstart kangaroo's debut, starting when he refuses to clean up the mess in his room (Mama's pouch). With his bindlestiff on his shoulder, Joey runs away, looking for a new home, but they're all taken. Meantime, Mama's pouch is for rent but not suitable for any of the animals who investigate the space. After a while, the wanderer hitches a ride in a postman's bag and fetches up back home, so Mama discards the junk mail and welcomes her Joey, thus ending the non-stop surprises illustrated with verve in Kent's boldly colored pictures.
