The days of classrooms full of Jennifers and Daves are over as parents search for more unique names for their progeny. With increased awareness of the fluidity of gender identity, parents are also looking for names that will allow their baby to be themselves as they grow. Mannario's compilation of nearly 1,000 possible names presents plenty of decidedly modern options, from Addison to Zephyr. Each chapter covers an individual letter of the alphabet, and each entry includes the name origin and similar names or spellings where applicable. The broad linguistic origins include Cherokee, Greek, Hebrew, Sanskrit, and Yoruba; also included are male-typical names that have become gender-neutral (like James). Interspersed throughout are "five name" boxes: inspired by food, space terms, and translations to "joy" or "peace." Baby name books are always a hot commodity in a public library collection, and Mannario's fresh take will please parents-to-be or anyone looking for a name change.
