نقد و بررسی
This 24-lecture course is a broad survey of four centuries of Jewish history, but it's not superficial. Without attempting to describe every detail, Ruderman presents reasonably thorough coverage of the main issues and major thinkers. A novice will learn a great deal, and a more knowledgeable listener will gain new insights. Professor Ruderman's depth and breadth of knowledge are impressive; his presentation is practiced, professional, and never monotonous. While he repeatedly uses a number of unnecessary phrases (e.g., "I am trying to suggest..."), most lecturers have verbal idiosyncrasies, and his aren't irritating. As in all the Great Courses, the accompanying outlines and notes are excellent. R.E.K. (c) AudioFile 2003, Portland, Maine
