Time-travel is a way for us to know where we are going, Fred Alan Wolf says. Listeners won't get the powers that TV time-traveler Doctor Who enjoys, but Wolf--known as Dr. Quantum--wants to change the way people perceive time, the past, and the future. Wolf is entertaining, if strange, as he combines quantum physics, science fiction, and yoga into his program of "untraining" people in the way they think about time. He shows how we all challenge time by multitasking, finding peaceful moments, and getting lost in activities, and offers exercises for "cheating time." Listeners who don't mind some math and science (not to mention an odd sense of humor) with their yoga will benefit from these mental exercises. J.A.S. (c) AudioFile 2008, Portland, Maine
Interacting with the universe is not the mechanical process we think it is here in the West--it's an illusory dynamic that spans time and space in a way that doesn't seem orderly but which can be understood. Dr. Wolf is an inviting teacher who talks extemporaneously, though he follows an organized lesson plan. The liner/package notes are comprehensive, so there is a visual reference if the material gets away from the listener. This is a physics lesson that also explains mind and matter, intention and outcome. The author concludes with a humble lesson on how to connect with God to co-create almost any kind of universe one can place in the mind. T.W. (c) AudioFile 2005, Portland, Maine
