If you can buy into the premise that monsters such as demons, warlocks, and golems are out to destroy modern civilization, you'll have a rollicking good time with Ochse's action-packed third SEAL Team 666 novel (after 2013's Age of Blood). SEAL Jack Walker and the Triple Six team join their British monster-hunting counterparts, Section 9, after Walker's girlfriend, Jen, meets a horrific end at Stonehenge, brutally murdered by King Arthur riding a giant white stag. The military guys are aided in their battles by a sexy witch, Sassy Moore, whose magic wand proves more useful against the deadly wraiths than the usual SA80s, Glock 17s, HK416s, and Sig Sauers. Together and separately, the Brits and Yanks battle various supernatural creatures and their human minions up and down the British Isles, taking terrible casualties and inflicting serious damage before a series of exciting battles decides the outcome. A Navy SEAL team defends Britain against supernatural creatures. Retired Army intelligence officer Ochse (Age of Blood, 2013, etc.) introduces the third book about his fictitious SEAL Team 666, a military unit that specializes in doing battle with the supernatural. When Navy SEAL Jack Walker's fiancee is killed during a mysterious druid ritual at Stonehenge, the commando hops over the pond to find answers and vengeance in England. The few remaining members of Section 9-Britain's counterpart to SEAL team 666-aid Walker's quest for answers by connecting him with a witch who serves as a conduit to the dark demons on the other side of the natural world. However, threats become severe with the appearance of homunculi, or what Walker calls "Freddy Krueger-Stretch Armstrong serial-killing fucking mini-golems," and half human-half beast dogs that are inhabited by the souls of the recently deceased. When the American Seal team unites with their cohorts in Britain, these elite warriors realize that the secret societies of the Red Grove and the Bohemian Grove are behind an elaborate plot, which includes restoring ancient pagan Christmas rituals. The ultimate goal of these ceremonies, many of which revolve around sexual deviance, is to bring back the mythical King Arthur with the intention that he'll return Britain to its former glory. Enter enigmatic spirits who inhabit the bodies of a wide array of human hosts, and this makes for an intense showdown that will decide the future of Britain.With minimal character development, this is a fast-paced adventure that straddles the worlds of special operations and the paranormal.

The latest in the SEAL Team 666 series, which craftily blends horror with elite military action, opens with an absolute shocker. A reenactment at Stonehenge turns into murder when the fake sacrifice becomes all too real. For one of the team, the death is personal, and he is willing to sacrifice the mission and his life for revenge. Will his loyalty keep him from going rogue? Will his colleagues be able to trust him to do the right thing? Throw in creepy beasts and King Arthur, and the end result is another winner from Ochse. The military action is first rate, and the horror is tight and scary. Readers who enjoy Brad Taylor's and Brad Thor's military thrillers, but who don't mind stories that add to the military mix some over-the-top terror in the manner of Jonathan Maberry, will find this the perfect diversion.
