The Fenmere Job

The Rynax brothers relinquished their lives of crime after their previous adventures (in Lady Henterman's Wardrobe, 2018), and are working together to establish a Gadgeterium to sell Verci's creations. At least, that was the theory. When Asti, who has been keeping an eye on the local gangs, learns of a drug shipment coming into the neighborhood, the Holver Alley Crew is drawn back together to stop it. This pits them against former ally Josie Holt, potentially breaking their treaty with her; against the Fenmere cartel that is providing the drugs; and against the mysterious vigilante Thorn. It also gives them the opportunity to investigate the mage circle that moved in after the Holver Alley fire, and offers hints to other potential problems that the mages and others may bring to the neighborhood. As with all adventures, nothing goes quite as planned, and the Rynax brothers learn whom they can count on. This page-turner holds the reader's attention and is a fine addition to Maresca's Streets of Maradaine series, comfortably blending urban fantasy with an edge of steampunk.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2020, American Library Association.)
