Chic is not typically what comes to mind while shopping in the hardware store, but sculptor and set designer Antonson and Hackett (coauthor, The Salvage Sisters' Guide to Finding Style in the Street and Inspiration in the Attic) find inspiration in building materials. The simple, well-organized projects--e.g., a room divider made of concrete molds and a copper-flashing table runner--include furniture, lighting, storage, and children's toys. There is no instruction for tool use, and illustrations showing construction are skimpy (although glamorous photos of finished projects are plentiful). Despite shortcomings, this appealing book shows distinctive and adaptable uses for hardware materials.
