Last year's Go the F*ck To Sleep went viral before it even hit the streets and enjoyed an extended stay on the New York Times bestseller list. Friedman (staff writer, Macworld; coauthor, The Snuggie Sutra) here offers a "cleaner" parody on parents' sleep deprivation in the rhyming style of Dr. Seuss's Horton Hatches the Egg. Playing "rock, paper, scissors" to decide who gets to change the baby's diaper, Friedman then barrels through six pages of prose on poop: "Her diaper's distended, / Her diaper looks mushy, / And it's sure not containing / What's come from her tushy!" Eventually, of course, Mom and Dad must call in the reinforcements (Grandma) in order to get some shut-eye. VERDICT Despite an awkward ending, this will ring true with tired parents, especially those who love Dr. Seuss. Funny stuff.
