A pair of pretty, flowered underwear given to LaRoche (Relax, You May Only Have a Few Minutes Left: Using the Power of Humor To Overcome Stress in Your Life) by her mother symbolizes what it is to celebrate life fully in this companion to a PBS special to air in March. By exulting in everything-down to minutiae like wearing the titular party pants instead of workaday underwear-one can thrive. Having an amazing life is less about undies, however, and more about "recognizing that within us we have a lot to give that makes our life extraordinarily special." Ten key "truths" (e.g., resilience, optimism, and humor) are explored, mostly through anecdotes that superficially touch on many topics (e.g., mindful meditation, journaling, overthinking). It's easy to see how this material would be funny and motivating in the hands of a live presenter, which LaRoche is, but it doesn't translate well into print; it's agreeable but lightweight and ultimately unsatisfying. The author's popularity, however, is sure to secure demand.
